The countdown has been replaced by a countup. It has been years, months, days, hours, minutes and seconds since the start of the wedding ceremony.

(21-FEB-02) Travel Options

The Maid of Honor will be arranging, for your convenience, a bus to bring people from the church to the reception after the ceremony. The bus will also bring you back to the church (your cars will be there) after the reception. This will assure that you are not driving around the Capital Region, asking people where you can find a crooked lake, while the rest of us are at the party. For information, get in touch with Diane at d_porciello@hotmail.com. She tells us that the bus can fit about 45 people, and will cost about $15/person.

This is especially convenient for those guests planning to stay at the Crowne Plaza since the hotel is just a short walk from the church. Door to door service, no driving required!

Other guests are also welcome to participate, but will have to coordinate their own transportation to the ceremony, and home from the church at the end of the night. There is ample street parking in Albany where you can leave your car, or you can pay to leave your car in the Crowne Plaza parking lot.

(08-FEB-02) Ring Update

The wedding bands have been opened and admired. They are now safely in the capable hands of the best man. Despite the Groom's desire to wear them immediately, the couple will wait for the wedding to exchange rings.

Exactly how far would you say we could go without pushing it?

(06-FEB-02) Alternative Housing

A more luxurious option:
The Morgan State House and the Washington Park State House are centrally located "boutique" inns.

A quiet option:
Pine Haven Bed and Breakfast is a small B&B located in the Pine Haven section of Albany.

An upstate-and-a-half option:
An hour away from Albany, Hull-O Farms is a chance to stay on a real upstate NY dairy farm.

(06-FEB-02) Rings

Ring Box
The wedding bands have arrived from California, care of Catherine von Dennefeld at Eternal Rings. We already have a preview of the ring from when Catherine turned Kate's design into this prototype. The actual rings are still in the FedEx envelope since Kate is not allowed to open it until Marc gets there.

(16-JAN-02) Albany
For some state Capitol history and information about some of the interesting things to do there, see this link.

things to do in the greater Albany area...
Albany may seem like the forgotten city, but the fact of the matter is, Albany has more museum space, more theater seats, more university classrooms and more bars per capita than New York City... who knew?

Albany Institute of History and Art. A neat place to see art.
Cohoes waterfall. Mohawk -- it's just as important as Niagara. Kinda. And probably flowing again by April.
The Egg. known the world over. Weird, wacky, Albany architecture.
Flea market. Go buy yourself somebody else's junk.
Golf. Or golf. Or golf. Go play a round. We'll wait.
Guptill's. Go roller skating!
Hudson River. Kate's been swimming in the Hudson. Now you can, too!
Jillian's. Arcade and restaurant, right around the corner from the Crowne Plaza.
Lark Tavern. A fun downtown bar.
Mountain biking. This is mostly just for John.
New York State Museum. Officially the most important museum in the state.
Weird. Some of the odd roadside sights you may encounter.
Crossgates Mall. Home of the only traffic jams in Albany.

(15-DEC-01) Wedding Week Activities
Every year, when my birthday rolls around, I like to stretch out the celebration into a birthday week. It only comes by once a year. So, when having a wedding, a once in a lifetime occasion, it only makes sense to stretch it out as well. We will be planning fun activities for the week before the wedding. Watch this space for more information.
