When I woke up this morning, my lovely wife asked me, "Do you feel another year older?" My response was a definitive "Yes."
Kate has been asking me this question on my birthday, probably since I've known her. She says that every other time I've said, "No." I guess it's been a busy year. Perhaps it's the instability of consulting that is making me feel older. Perhaps it's the becoming a father. Perhaps it's the settling into Connecticut life. Perhaps it's the purchase of our first house. Perhaps it's all the work we've done on the house.
Whatever it is, I do feel older this year.
Living in our first house is really great. The consulting business has been pretty good to us so far. We enjoy living in SE Connecticut. And I wouldn't ever dream of trading J for the feeling of being young.
Here's to growing older.
